Understanding Aleppo Soap
Traditional Aleppo soap is made using a simple combination of olive oil, laurel oil, water and sodium hydroxide (lye), which is used during the soapmaking process. Lorbeer's traditional Aleppo soaps are handmade in Syria and take approximately one year to produce and dry.
Laurel oil is one of the defining ingredients of Aleppo soap. The percentage of laurel oil varies between formulations, creating differences in the cleansing character and feel of the finished soap.
Choosing Your Aleppo Soap
Lorbeer Aleppo soaps are available in 5%, 12%, 20% and 30% laurel oil formulations. In each formulation, the remaining oil is olive oil.
Lower laurel oil percentages offer a gentler cleansing character, while higher percentages provide a more concentrated laurel oil formulation. This allows you to choose an Aleppo soap according to your personal preference and the feel you enjoy from your soap.
